Centennial Park will be a living green space designed to enhance family gatherings during Family Day activities and Initial Entry Training graduations. It is also intended to host military events and ceremonies, as well as a place where Soldiers and civilians alike can unwind and reflect.
The Greek revival style park and memorials were designed by Ron Clamp and are being built to create a seemingly timeless tribute to those who serve and have served our Nation.
The Gateway to the Army Association is a South Carolina non-profit corporation established to encourage patriotism by facilitating honor and respect for the Army.
Our first project is to honor Fort Jackson’s centennial in 2017 by the funding and provision of a monument and park within which to display it and within which to provide a place where those connected to Fort Jackson and Fort Jackson’s friends can congregate; conduct graduations, retirements, promotions, awards, and similar such honorific occasions; and generally meet, picnic, meditate, and enjoy life while honoring and appreciating what Fort Jackson does and has done since its inception in 1917.
