COLUMBIA, S.C.--
Actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band will perform a free concert for soldiers on Sept. 5 at Fort Jackson’s Hilton Field.
“Lieutenant Dan” is the character Sinise portrayed in the 1994 film “Forrest Gump,” for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The 60 year old, who has appeared in more than 50 roles in movies and television, has visited troops around the world and has performed with his band — which is named after his most popular character. The band performs an eclectic style of music that includes popular songs from many genres and eras.
The concert at Fort Jackson, scheduled to start at 7 p.m., is free to all Department of Defense valid cardholders, veterans and their family members. Food and drinks will be available at 4 p.m.
