The Foreign Theater Plaza will be located in the southeast corner of Centennial Park. This area will feature low relief bronze sculptures depicting each of the theaters of war in which the United States fought since the commissioning of then “Camp” Jackson in 1917. The large plaques will be installed on granite monoliths engraved with descriptions of each conflict. Four of the bronze sculptures were originally located at the former Fort Jackson main entrance; they depict scenes from WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Two additional low relief bronze sculptures will represent the 1990 Gulf War and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Foreign Theater Plaza will be a somewhat private area where Soldiers, Veterans and Families can reflect on the sacrifices made by those defending our freedom since WWI. The low relief sculptures will provide a wonderful backdrop for Veterans returning to visit Fort Jackson.
