FORT JACKSON, S.C. Jul. 9, 2015-- Officials at Fort Jackson discussed on Thursday how the Army's plan to reduce its strength by 40,000 soldiers will affect the post.
Thursday the Army announced its force structure decisions and how they will affect stations. The Army says the cuts will impact nearly every installation in the United States and overseas.
According to Major General Roger Cloutier, Fort Jackson will be reducing its personnel by 180 active-duty soldiers.
The personnel reductions will occur in the 2016 and 2017 fiscal year and Army officials say they will be complete by 2018. The reduction is due to budget cuts resulting from sequestration.
